Three years ago Fiona decided to take a sabbatical to study Fine Art. So she temporarily left behind an established career in management consultancy and human resources and embarked on a Fine Art BA Hons at the University of Lincoln. Recently graduated, she is now developing a new consultancy business, as well as continuing her studies part time, studying Design and Innovation with the Open University.

Fiona’s artwork has ranged from detailed portraits to striking abstract paintings, to ceramics, sculpture and installations.

Her recent artwork has explored contemporary issues for working mothers. It aims to take familiar domestic forms and idealised "motherhood" images and manipulate them to express the pressures that modern mothers feel under. Clay is twisted and distorted, portraying the modern mother's complexity of emotions and experiences about her role. The materials are manipulated, altered, flattened, stretched and reconstructed - just as many women still feel pulled about by the expectations of the media, politicians, employers and their family, and suggesting a state of emotional and physical collapse. This work is very much influenced by the 1970s feminist art movement and more recent publications exploring the pressures for modern mothers.

She is currently developing work inspired by Alice in Wonderland for an exhibition soon to be  run by the Lincoln Artists Network, to coincide with the release of the new Tim Burton film. The subject of time permeates this work, whether it is specifically about time, suggests a lack of it, or looks forward to the future.

She has exhibited at a number of galleries and her work is held by corporate and private collectors in the UK and Canada.
