ArtsLinc Artists Network

While organising the Isle Arts Showcase, taking place in Epworth in September 2008, it struck me that there was a need for a professional artists network. Many artists in rural areas such as this can feel very isolated and find it difficult to find like-minded people to mix with. Consequently, they often fail to reach their artistic potential as they struggle to make the essential contacts necessary to build their professional practices. Furthermore, there is little recognition of the wealth of artistic talent around. Individuals on their own may struggle to find outlets for their art to be seen by the wider public.

As a group we can benefit from pooling our resources, knowledge, contacts, etc to make things happen.

The network’s main aims are to meet regularly to provide a forum where artists can

-         exchange information and ideas about developing and promoting their artistic practice

-         find and create opportunities to help their professional development

-         establish links to form artistic collaborations

-         raise the profile of artists from the area, e.g. through staging art events and exhibitions

The network is open to all practising artists and craftspeople (whether full-time or part-time). Members are joining from North Lincolnshire, Lincolnshire and neighbouring parts of South Yorkshire.

Initially called the Isle Artists Network, this has just been renamed the ArtsLinc Artists Network.

The network now has its own website, which you can find through this link - ArtsLinc.
